Hi, my name is Lee. Twenty years ago I was in a car accident. I went through surgery three times on my neck and two years of therapy. I was told by other doctors, therapist, and another chiropractor (who refused to adjust my neck) that the surgery was all that could be done. I had a plate in my neck covering three vertebra and a 50% loss of neck motion.

This past June I saw Dr. Joe's ad in the newspaper for adjustments. Last fall I had fallen and broke my arm and wrist. After getting out of the cast, I had a frozen shoulder and had it broken loose. That did not take care of all the pain in my upper back. I had a lot of doubts about chiropractors, but thought it was worth a try. I was very surprised when Dr. Kanan adjusted my neck. He continued to adjust my neck and upper back. It is now the middle of August and the pain is gone in my back and best of all I have gained back the motion in my neck. I would place my range of motion as a 40% gain. It is wonderful.

I was having low back pain, hip and leg pain to where i could hardly walk. I had been in pain for about 3 to 5 years.

My past treatments of Naproxen twice a day and Meloxican was no help and upset my stomach.

I have had terrible pain in my ribs and mid-back and, when I came to see Dr. Kanan, I discovered I have a double-curved scoliosis in my spine.

I have had pain in my ribs and back for almost a year or so and it got worse and worse.

I have taken medication and gotten multiple test done; however, I had no signs of improvement. It actually worsened with the medication.

Since I began my chiropractic care, I showed immediate signs of improvement. Within the first two weeks, my pain went from a level ten to a level one. Due to family responsibilities, I did not seek professional help. I thought I would be facing surgery. I was taking ibuprofen everyday. I tried massages and pilates.

What progress have you made since you started chiropractic care?

I can enjoy life again! Litterally, after one adjustment, spinal decompression and laser treatment, I felt better and had more stamina than I had had in over 20 months. After 12 laser and decompression treatments, I am able to walk 3 miles a day, do yard work, do house work, and drive long distances - whatever I want, whenever I want.

I had three weeks of pain due to an injury. I do have a condition that was discovered due to this injury that Dr Kanan is helping me with.

Periodic adjustments with another doctor unsuccessful.

Since I have started chiropractic care here with Dr. Kanan, I have no pain. When I do feel pain it usually takes one adjustment to relieve the pain. Overall I feel that this treatment is the best course of action for me.

I can honestly say that the decompression and laser treatment helped to restore my quality of life.

Since the summer of 2009, I have been having neck pain and headaches twice a day. I couldn't eat much or sleep because of my headaches.

I started seeing another chiropractor once a month for treatment. My pain only got worse.

I started seeing Dr. Kanan on 2/15/10. Within the first week, after two treatments I stopped getting headaches. My neck pain has improved and I am not having any problems sleeping now. I also noticed my posture is better.

Since I started seeing Dr. Kanan I have more mobility in my lower back and neck area. I have experienced less pain as well. After only a few visits I felt a noticable difference of improved strength in the aforementioned areas, this was a pleasant surprise. :)

I came to see Dr. Kanan because my back and legs were hurting so bad that I could hardly walk. I had been hurting for over 2 months and been to a different chiropractor, but I was not getting relief.

Dr. Kanan did an x-ray and found that I had a pinched nerve. He started me on decompression and laser treatments. Now I can pick up my legs, bend them, and walk without pain.

Past Treatments: No professional treatments, I would rest and feel better after a while then I'd start back with my regular activities and the pain would come back.

Progress Made: It took about ½ ways into my treatment cycle before I began to feel like things were getting better. I noticed I was able to introduce activities back into my routine without injury. I really noticed a big change when I agreed to try the laser therapy. From about the second laser treatment on, I feel like I turned the corner. I'm now back in the gym and working on strengthening and not just rehab for the first time in a while.

Additional Comments: I'm thankful that Dr. Kanan convinced me to stay the course. I wanted more faster, but injuries that have gone on for years don't generally heal in one or two treatments. I also would recommend the laser therapy to anyone who is suffering from inflammation or tissue damage.

Roger Williams:

I came to see Dr. Kanan for severe neck pain and stiffness. At times I would have loss of feeling in both of my arms and hands plus daily headaches. My neck pain, numbness and stiffness started approximately 9 months ago, and my headaches started on a daily basis approximately 4 months prior to treatment.

After the 5th or 6th visit, I started to get some relief from the numbness in my arms and hands and the neck pain began to let up. I was very hesitant in thinking that the procedures I was going through were actually helping. However, Dr. Kanan wsa quick to prove me wrong. I am nearing the end of my treatment with my numbness completely gone and my neck pain hardly even noticeable. I was taking 6-8 Ibuprofen daily for the headaches, but it has been over a week now since I have taken any. I did not realize how much my pain had taken over my daily routine. Dr. Kanan has made a believer out of me!

I came to see Dr. Kanan for Lower Back Pain due to a fall. The pain subsided after 1 week from the time I started seeing Dr. Kanan.

When I came to see Dr. Kanan I could barely sit or stand straight. After 1 week of treatment, I was much improved. After about 4 weeks of 3 visits per week, the pain was completely gone. I am now coming 1 time a week and the pain has not returned!

For a number of years I suffered with severe headaches, neck and shoulder pain, and numbness down my arm and into my hand. Since having upper cervical alignments by Dr. Kanan, the headaches are completely gone and the neck and shoulder pain, as well as the numbness, are diminished to a miniscule level.

Gordon Hennon:

I came to see Dr. Kanan for shoulder pain and limited range of motion in my shoulder. I had this problem for 6 months before coming here. I had previously recieved a cortisone shot in my shoulder. This relieved the problem although some pain and limited range of motion in both shoulders remained.

After 24 sessions with Dr. Kanan, I have almost no shoulder discomfort and an increase in the range of motion of my head and shoulders.

After my treatment ended, I developed lower back pain when I moved the wrong way. Dr. Kanan started treating my lower back and it's almost back to normal. Chiropractic care has been an interesting experiment for me. Seeing x-rays of my neck and spine and learning about the theory behind chiropractic treatment has opened up a whole new look at medical care.

Mamie Nunley:

I came to see Dr. Kanan because of severe hip pain. I had this problem for 5 months before coming here. I have previously had 6 weeks of physical therapy, steriod shots, and have taken all kinds of pain medicine, but received no relief.

Since I started seeing Dr. Kanan my pain has gradually decreased over my 8 week course of treatment. I have been getting laser treatments, spinal decompression and adjustments two to three times a week. The pain has gone from a level 8 to a level 1. I also had trigger point therapy which has really helped relieve the pain.

I always said I would never have chiropractic treatments, but through much prayer I was led to try this treatment, nothing else helped me at all. I thank God for the treatments I have received. Dr. Kanan is a very compassionate and caring person.

My chief complaint is my back, I have had this pain for months now. I was told I would never be able to bend again or lift anything over 8 lbs. Any movement would cause me to go down and then I would be on the floor. I have tried medication and therapy before. Other doctor's told me I would have to live with the pain.

When I first started seeind Dr. Kanan, just him touching my back made me cry. I went from a pain level of 8 to 10 to now either a 1 or no pain at all. I was not a "chiropractic" person, in fact my best friend made my appointment for me. I cannot believe the change I have experienced. My chief complaint was neck, right arm and shoulder pain and hand pain on the level of a high 10. I had this for about 8-9 months. Since I have started seeing Dr. Kanan my pain level has gone down to about a 2-3. I was having to use my housekeeper 4-5 times a month, and I'm happy to say I have not needed her one time the whole month of December. I love being able to take care of my own house and family. I am almost pain free and have been able to do things I haven't been able to do for months. Thank you!

I have been having pains in my low back and left leg - severe pain. I couldn't even stand up straight. I have had this condition for about 4 months. Previously with another doctor I had adjustments and muscle stimulation, that lasted for about 4 weeks but I got no relief from this.

I was having weak, "fainting like spells". I did actually lose consciousness on two occasions. Most of the time the spells would leave me real weak and I would have to hold onto something until I could sit down. The spells would leave me both weak, and with a headache for several hours. They were very scary. This began more than 10 years ago. At first they would come on maybe a month or so apart. Then they became more frequent. Over the past month or so, they were coming on a daily basis - sometimes three or so a day. I was checked by some of the best doctors in the whole country. (Heart doctors, neurologist, Chiropractors and even an Autonomic specialist.) There was no progress seen with anything attempted. They were truly interested in my case, and did their best to be helpful, nut none of them had a solution.

Improvement began almost from the first treatment with Dr. Kanan. After just a few treatments we began to realize we were finally on the right track. My husband and I are thrilled that we began coming to Dr. Kanan who specializes in the upper cervical area. It has been a long journey to where we have finally arrived. Low back pain, hip and leg pain. It was approximately 9 months that I suffered from this pain before my consultation with Dr. Kanan in August of 2009. I have tried massage therapy, physical therapy and epidural steroid injections, none of which helped.

Since coming to see Dr. Kanan I have made a complete turnaround. Before I started treatment with him, I could not pick up and hold my son, I could not get myself into and out of the bathtub without help from my husband and could not do everyday household chores. There were some days I could not dress myself, nor could I help take care of our little boy, along with several days that I could not go to work. Now I am able to do all of those things and even more that I didn't mention! I am able to cook dinner a few nights a week now and help out with the laundry and housekeeping. I can even take my little one outside to ride his bicycle or walk around the block.

I am so thankful that Dr. Kanan has opened his practice in Tullahoma. He is very educated in his profession, and that is to OUR benefit even more so than his. I enjoy receiving treatment form a doctor that doesn't meet me at the door with his prescription pad and tell me to come back in two weeks. Dr. Kanan listens to what is wrong and applies his knowledge to a treatment plan designed especially for you. To me, that is what makes a good doctor, one that is willing to listen to you and then find a way to help.

I started out with a chief complaint of pain in my hip that caused so much discomfort that I could not sleep well. I have tried other treatments but nothing really seemed to help, instead it has only gotten worse.

Since coming to see Dr. Kanan I have not had any more sleepless nights, I can finally get comfortable enough to get some sleep.
