How does it work?
The main causes of joint dysfunction are mechanical, chemical, and mental. Mechanical causes are referred to as micro or macro trauma. Micro trauma can also be called repetitive stress injury. Sitting with poor posture at a desk and typing all day can cause problems such as carpal tunnel or neck, upper back, or low back pain. Macro trauma refers to pain due to trauma to the body, such as a fall, a break, or a car crash. Both forms of mechanical causes of joint dysfunction can benefit immensely from chiropractic care. Another cause of joint dysfunction is due to the chemical effects on the joint function and the body as a whole. Smoking, heavy drinking, and poor diet can create chemical imbalances in the body.
The help I offer removes postural imbalances and structural misalignments that can accumulate in our bodies over time. Chiropractic works by restoring your own inborn ability to be healthy. For your body to remain healthy, your nervous system must function well. For your nervous system to function well it must be free of interference. By restoring spinal function with Chiropractic adjustments, nerve interference by misaligned vertebrae is removed, thus allowing optimal nervous system function and improved health.
The customized care you receive from our office may help to improve your posture, muscle balance and mobility. It may also restore the integrity of your nervous system and get rid of pain quickly, so you can get back to feeling good today.
Why it's important not to miss a visit...
Sometimes after a patient has been in several time and I give them an adjustment, they hear the normal "popping" sound and they think that the vertebrae has "fallen out of place again". Well that's not what has actually happened. When you come in and I give you an adjustment, the vertebrae does not go into place and then come out of place again before your next adjustment.
Here's what really happens. Each time you get an adjustment, the vertebrae moves a little closer into the correct position (and it also starts moving a little more freely through natural body movement). Then, the next time you come in I adjust you again and the vertebrae moves a little closer into alignment again. In other words, every time I adjust you I move the vertebrae a little closer into its normal position.
But here's the problem. If you miss an appointment it gives the vertebra time to "regress" or settle back out of position. You see, one adjustment builds onto the next - each adjustment moving the vertebrae closer into its correct position. If you miss an adjustment the vertebrae have time to settle out of position a little more. Then it becomes "one step forward and two steps back."
So it's important to try to keep every appointment and if you do have to miss one, try to make it up before your spine has a chance to settle back into the old, incorrect, position.
